Show didn't quite detail just how much Americans tried to intercede to save Andre's life... He is commemorated here as a gentleman, not a common spy.

its just weird to think this really happened. these are actors but they are portraying people that really existed. they were fighting a war. spying on each other. trying to outwit each other. Andre was real and he hanged. They even added the pause when he realized he was to be hanged instead of shot. He had wanted a firing squad, a soldier's death.

While entertaining, Robert the Bruce's speech was actually quite a full one, and he evoked God a lot in it (as would any Christian warrior at this time), and also spoke about the saints like Andrew and Thomas, and cited that Jesus would be their commander in the battle. I do wish that modern filmmakers wouldn't shy away from the religiosity of historical peoples and figures and replace it with cynicism and ambiguity.
